NASA’s
Europa Clipper spacecraft embarks on a 5 1/2-year mission to explore Jupiter's
moon, Europa, in search of signs of life. Learn more about the mission's goals
and expected arrival in 2030.
NASA has
launched the Europa Clipper spacecraft on a 5 1/2-year mission to explore
Jupiter's icy moon, Europa.
Scientists
believe that beneath Europa's frozen surface lies a vast ocean, which could
potentially harbor life.
The
spacecraft, equipped with advanced instruments, will study the moon’s ice crust
and look for signs of life.
However, it
will take several years for the Europa
Clipper to reach its destination, as the moon is nearly 2 billion miles away.
The spacecraft is expected to arrive in 2030.
